Description
A basket or strainer element is held and supported by a basket filter housing, which is also referred to as a strainer housing or basket strainer. It is frequently employed to remove solid particles or waste from liquid flows in industrial applications.
- Stainless steel, carbon steel, or plastic are common materials for the cylindrical or rectangular body of the basket filter housing. During filtration operations, the housing is made to endure pressure and keep its structural integrity.
- A basket filter housing's primary function is to house and support a detachable or washable basket or strainer element. In most cases, the element is a perforated or mesh-lined basket or strainer that collects and holds solid particles or trash that are larger than the filtration apertures.
- The fluid movement through the perforations or mesh of the basket element is made possible by the basket filter housing's inclusion of an inlet and outlet connection. The basket element is fixed into the housing using a cover or closure mechanism, such as a bolted lid or quick-opening clamp, which also seals the area during use.
- Additional features like a vent or air release valve to release trapped air, a drain or blow-off valve to remove accumulated particles, and a pressure gauge or differential pressure indication to check the filter's condition are frequently included in basket filter housings.
